You may recall the cute Hall family who won our Unfrozen Winner contest earlier this year. Check out their adorable snowman submission!
Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning sent the family on a Disney Cruise and covered airfare for four. Rebecca and Bradley (Mom and Dad) took their two oldest children, Korbin and Brooke, on their Disney Cruise during mid-summer. Korbin and Brooke had never been on a cruise before and Rebecca and Bradley hadn’t been in about 10 years.
“I can’t even begin to explain the amount of fun we had and how seriously incredible the whole thing was,” wrote Rebecca. “It was a getaway we could have never taken on our own. Disney does cruising right!”
The Hall family was sweet enough to send us their itinerary and some photos from their awesome trip. If you want to a Disney Cruise, or just want to find out what it’s all about, read on to see the highlights from the Hall’s vacation.
We were on the water for two days (Saturday and Sunday) and then landed in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. We scheduled a Catamaran and went out with a few other families for the day. It was my kids’ first time snorkeling and they loved it. We spotted turtles and stingrays – it was probably the most fun experience of the entire cruise!
We went from Tortola to St. Thomas in the American Virgin Islands, where we were able to snorkel some more, got to swim, and laid out on the beach. The water was actually that turquoise blue that you see in movies – truly beautiful.
We sailed all day Wednesday and then got off at Castaway Cay, Disney’s Exclusive Island. The water was so blue and had perfect visibility beneath, so of course - more snorkeling! They had hidden Mickey Mouses you could find underwater, which made up for not having as many fish. They also had an 18 and older beach which we took advantage of while the kids played with other kids. Castaway Cay had employees everywhere to keep an eye on the kids so we (Mom and Dad) laid out and drank a daiquiri. It was basically a floating Disneyland!
I (Rebecca) get goosebumps remembering everything on the ship – everything was all so fun and unforgettable! They have a “Midship Detective Agency” where you select the mystery you want to solve and Disney gives you a card so you can keep track of all your clues. When you put the card up to a painting, it comes to life – it speaks to you, tells you about the mystery you are trying to solve, and gives you hints and directions. One mystery took us two hours because we were going all over the cruise ship.
They are continually playing first-run movies out by the pool so we got to enjoy Alice Through the Looking Glass, Jungle Book, and Big Friendly Giant. We also got to go on the Aqua Duct, which is a huge slide that zooms you up and down and swings you out across the boat!
We went Goofy Golfing and they also have other games and a Tween Club called Edge with activities like scavenger hunts, ice breakers, and more.
It’s very easy to find characters on the ship – you only have to wait three or four minutes versus a half-hour or more at Disneyland. We got to see about two each day, and one day we hit five in a row! They also have different versions of the characters, including Captain Mickey, Traditional Mickey, etc.
The room was amazing! Ours included an ocean view room with a large porthole and window seat. Our room was a really good size and all four of us were comfortable and never felt squished.
You go between three restaurants. Enchanted Garden has neat flower lights on the ceiling that open and close and the colors change on the ceiling throughout your meal and Royal Court was very elegant and made me think of Cinderella. The meals are very gourmet and they have an awesome medley. My son tried everything, even the escargot at the Royal Court. (He thought it tasted like dirt!)
Animators Palette is animation-themed and they give you markers on your table so you can sketch a figure. They give you a tutorial on how to draw a figure, then they take the drawings and at the very end of dinner, they animate your drawings on the wall. You have no idea it’s coming! They arrange them to music and place them in Disney movies. My daughter is our artist so she put a lot of effort into hers and was elated – the rest of us weren’t quite as talented
“We can't thank Service Experts enough for this amazing opportunity,” Rebecca told us after they returned from the trip. “I tear up when I think about the experience as a whole. Submitting our picture to a contest I never thought would go anywhere, finding out we were a finalist, the anxious voting round, the big announcement, researching and choosing which cruise, the excitement of going and finally experiencing an incredible trip. It was such a wonderful time living it all. We are forever grateful!”
