What causes indoor air pollution?

Many common things may cause inferior indoor air quality in your Girard house.

This includes:

  • Substances in [carpet, furniture and drapery that give off fumes
  • Cleaning sprays
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are often more efficient, newer homes don’t have fresh air the way older residences do. Tight weather stripping and storm doors keep interior air in and exterior air out. This provides better energy savings, but the lowered exchange of outdoor and indoor air can cause pollutants increasing indoors.

When this occurs, a whole-house ventilation system is suggested. Ventilation systems replace contaminated indoor air for fresher exterior air without giving up energy savings.
